Which Course is Best for My Dog?

Our dogs come in all shapes and sizes as well as all personality and emotion types. In this article we help you decide which course is best for your dog.

A complex question indeed...

When we look at which course will be best to help our dog, there are many elements that we need to consider. What breed is my dog? How old are they? What do they enjoy doing? Do they have any areas you need to work on?
The most important aspect for your dog's welfare and behaviour is your ability to effectively communicate with them. If you can understand them then you can support them, ensure that they're getting everything they need and protect them when necessary.

So our first recommendation is always going to be one of our keystone courses which focusses on dog behaviour, body language and how dog's learn. If your dog has emotionally driven behaviours you'd like support with then the best options would be either our Veterinary Behaviour Consult (including two bespoke consults with veterinary behaviourist Dr Katie Friel-Russell all of which can be claimed for on pet insurance if you have it), or a more budget friendly option of the DIY Veterinary Behaviour Consult.
Or if you don't have any specific behavioural concerns then our Understanding Your Dog course, which is less in depth, might be more appropriate

Once you feel confident in your communication with your dog then the next steps include building your skills as a trainer - our Life Skills course has all the best tips around timing and handling. It demonstrates all the training you wish your dog could do to make life easier for you and them including lead walking, recall and the all important self-control.

And finally think about their age - each stage of our dog's lives comes with different challenges and aspect we need to focus on. Our life stages courses work with your where you are right now and are there to support you through the next stages too. Best of all they're available in a bundle with Understanding Your Dog and Life Skills too!

From there then you should go wherever you and your dog want to! What interests you? What drives your dog? Check out our bronze, silver and gold courses for a range of skills such as gundog, scent work, hoopers, parkour and more. All self-paced ready when you are!
